Oceanheart looked in silent worry around the camp, her tail flicking betraying her fear, for herself and for her kits, she glanced distractedly to where, Snowkit and Tempestkit were playing, unaware of the danger the floods had caused. Iceclan was particularly vulnerable to the water that had risen at such an alarming speed, her intelligent amber eyes flashed as she looked at the sun, she was sure they would have to leave here, or die. The camp was an island, it provided excellent protection against other cats and the weather usually, but it was deathtrap to be out here now. She called her kits to her with a clink of her eyes, her gaze looking around for other cats, she felt safer if a warrior was in close, she herself could fight, but she had her kits to consider, she was not going to loose a third litter, she didn't think she could take loosing her kits again.

Amberpelt dragged sodden paws and bushy tail away from the water, flowing from the river into the camp. Bending down, he gently nudged Snowkit away from the ascending waters.
"Are you okay, Oceanheart?" asked the brown tabby tom.
Quite simply, he knew any queen would worry about the safety of her kits. Trying to put fresh heart into himself, he lightly reminded himself that IceClan warriors knew how to swim.
Amberpelt padded over to sit next to Tempestkit, licking a paw and drawing it over an ear.
"I just wanted to be sure everyone was content."

Oceanheart blinked her eyes in greeting as Amberpelt entered the den, she flicked her tail, warning Snowkit to stay close, Tempestkit followed her brother, blinking her small eyes in bewilderment, as the water that surrounded the camp rose, thank god even kits learned how to swim. She paused and dipped her head at Amberpelts words,
"I'm fine..."
She mewed her nervous gaze flicking over the steadily falling rain as well as the swelling river, Iceclan felt more comfortable in the rain than other clans, but they still wouldn't choose to go out in it,
"Content? For now, but if the water rises any farther..."
She tailed off, her face falling, she eyed her kits apprehensively before asking the tom,
"Will we have to move?"

Amberpelt shuddered. How could he leave the island he'd been born on? His only home known? Amberpelt tried to look confident towards the she-cat, but even he had his doubts. With this flood, how long would the Clan last? Their camp, no matter how well protected, could never be protected from natures elements. Amberpelt's mind could not remember any flood as destructive as the one the Clan faced this very moment.
"There's nothing we can be sure of, Oceanheart. The floods are dangerous, and we can do nothing against them. Even our warrior ancestors cannot control nature's power." Amberpelt tilted his head toward the sky, dark with clouds that witheld the rain.

Oceanheart was hardly reassured by Amberpelt's words, but there was little he or any cat could do against the floods. If Starclan had been able to stop the flood, and help the cats that remained here, surely they would have done that already? She looked with apprehension at the sky, knowing that soon Silverpelt would grace the skies, the spirits of their ancestors looking down from their new hunting grounds, she sighed wishing that they could guide Oakstar and his warriors now,
"No perhaps not..."
She said dispiritedly, cats would no doubt be hurt, even if Iceclan taught their kits to swim, other clans didn't living far from the water, not needing to learn, besides the steady diet of fish that Iceclan ate was sufficient to protect their coats and make them partly water proof.

Amberpelt bowed his head understandingly toward the IceClan queen. A more important matter slipped into his mind: the Gathering.
"Are you going to attend the Gathering tonight?" the tom asked. "We all know the topic will be the flood."
What a foolish question! Amberpelt thought to himself. The queen could not leave for an entire Gathering with kits to care for. Gingerly, Amberpelt touched his nose to Oceanheart's.
"I'll tell you what happened when we return," he meowed. "Everyone should know."

Oceanheart gave a small wry smile as Amberpelt mentioned the gathering, the queen had been worrying about it since Iceclan had gotten back from the last one, she battered Snowkit away from his sister as he sent one paw swipe to many in her direction. Before turning to Amberpelt and shaking her head, she gave a small purr of amusement as the realization hit Amberpelt, no way was she leaving her kits, it would be bad enough having them leave the nursery when they grew up, let alone leaving them beforehand, she mewed to Amberpelt her tone now full of amusement,
"I'll hold you to that Amberpelt!"

Chuckling, Amberpelt dipped his head to Oceanheart. "Great," he meowed. "I'd better go meet the others at the gorge. The Gathering will occur soon enough."
Getting to his paws, Amberpelt began to pad away, and out through the tall cattail weeds that grew at the edge of the camp.
